The peer review process at the Journal of English Linguistics and Pedagogical Studies (JELPS) is designed to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance of all submitted manuscripts. The process is carried out in several stages:

  1. Initial Screening

Every submitted manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial office. At this stage, the paper is evaluated for basic requirements such as relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with formatting guidelines, and similarity checks to detect potential plagiarism. Manuscripts that fail to meet these criteria will be returned to the authors without external review.

  1. Peer Review Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are then forwarded to at least two to three qualified reviewers under a double-blind peer review system, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to maintain objectivity.

  1. Review Timeline

Reviewers are expected to provide constructive feedback and recommendations within three to six weeks of receiving the manuscript. Their evaluation focuses on the manuscript’s contribution to the field, theoretical and methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and originality.

  1. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial board makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept: the manuscript is accepted without changes.
  • Minor Revision: the manuscript requires small improvements before final acceptance.
  • Major Revision: the manuscript needs substantial changes and will undergo another round of review.
  • Reject: the manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards.
  1. Final Acceptance

Once the authors have addressed all reviewer comments and revisions are approved, the manuscript is formally accepted for publication and scheduled for inclusion in an upcoming issue.
